The distributor on our ’54 Silver Dawn has the two condensers mounted on the side of the distributor with bracket. I’d like to remove the screw holding the bracket to the distributor for easier cleaning of the bracket and condensers. Is the screw threaded into the distributor or is there a nut on the back-side, i.e. internal to the distributor. I don’t want to remove the screw if it requires disassembly of the distributor to re-connect.

Also, where does the condenser connect to? The coil mounted near the radiator?? We had electronic ignition installed and have no problems but notice the condenser wire is not connected to anything

  The screw holding the condenser bracket is threaded into the distributor body, so no nut on the back to worry about. The wire from one of the condensers connects to the terminal on the side of the distributor, which has presumably been removed to allow for electronic ignition wiring.
  
  Those TCC condensers last for ever, they might leak a bit and have an internal resistance if they aren’t used for a time, but they recover.
